Electronics & Gadgets Cheat Sheet
  1. No internet — one device only — Forget Wi-Fi + reconnect, or restart only that device
  2. No internet — all devices — Power-cycle router: OFF → wait 30s → ON → wait 90s
  3. Router on but no internet — Change DNS: set to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (Google) on router settings
  4. Confirm ISP issue — CMD → ping 192.168.1.1 (router replies) but no google.com → call ISP
  5. Slow Wi-Fi on far device — Log in to 192.168.1.1 → change 2.4GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11
  6. Factory reset router — Hold RESET button 10–30s. Last resort — must reconfigure from scratch
★Wi-Fi channels 1, 6, 11 are non-overlapping (2.4GHz). Neighbours on same channel = congestion. Use 5GHz band for speed; 2.4GHz for range.
  • Picture mode: "Movie" or "Filmmaker" mode for accurate colours — NOT "Vivid/Dynamic" (oversaturated + unnatural)
  • Disable "Motion Smoothing" (TrueMotion/Clear Motion/MotionFlow) — makes films look like soap operas
  • Sound: Use external speaker via HDMI ARC or Optical. Enable HDMI-CEC to control with TV remote
  • Streaming device: LAN cable > 5GHz Wi-Fi > 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for stable playback
  • OLED TVs: Enable screen saver + auto-sleep (4h) to prevent burn-in from static logos
  • OTA updates: Settings → About/Support → Software Update. Run monthly
